Ideal for DIY thatching garden structures, Tiki bars, beach huts, gazebos, summer houses, beach cabanas or your man cave! Just staple, screw, zip tie or tape it onto any surface for a tropical thatch look. We tend to use up to four layers together on the bottom row to give the impression of thickness and then stagger at 40 cm layers up the roof.
For weather proofing and lifespan your roof pitch should be at least 30 degrees pitch.
If your Grass thatch is for indoor use, or a public event we can Fire Retard and certify the Fire Retardency we apply. Please call for information. Grass thatch is very flamable and you should consider fire retardency for all applications.
Apply in layers from the bottom of the roof in 40 cm (16") steps up.
What you need:
The bottom layer or 'eve' of the thatch line will need a double layer of our Grass Thatch Roll to add thickness to the edge of the thatch. Each layer going up the roof is also made up of Grass Thatch Rolls until you reach the top layer. The peek or Ridge of the thatch is the Grass Thatch Top Cone or our dependent on the shape of your roof. We also supply Grass Thatch Panels which can be used with this product.
If you don't know how many you require you can email us a few photos of your roof along with some dimensions, and we can estimate it on your behalf. We need the length or diameter of your roof and the distance from the ridge (top) of the roof to the eve (bottom) along the angle of the thatch.
